SELLING:
Bring your books in to the HSF Used Bookstore and fill out the Used Bookstore Contract to provide us with information about you and your book(s). You must supply us with the price you want to sell your books for and your most current and complete contact information. We accept loose books and/or book packages (i.e. text with solution manual), but make sure you indicate this on the contract in the Book Title section of the form.
For each book that is submitted, the HSF Used Bookstore will deduct a 15% consignment/service charge fee from the Asking Price the seller specifies. On the contract, this will be noted as the Service Charge. However, the seller does not incur any charges when they drop off their books to sell because the consignment fee is paid for by the buyer when they purchase the book. The Total is the amount you will receive if your book is sold.
By filling out and signing the Used Bookstore Contract you have indicated to us that you are aware of and have agreed to the HSF Used Bookstore’s terms and conditions available on our website, in the agreement, and indicated to you by a HSF Customer Service Representative.
Come by any time during the drop-off period to bring in your books. One of our staff members will enter your book(s) information into our database and you will be issued a receipt. Also, make sure you follow up on the status of your book(s) and come by to pick-up your unsold book(s) when the pick-up period rolls around. If your book(s) is sold we will contact you and you will be able to pick up your cheque during the pick-up period. The drop-off, book selling and pick-up periods will be determine on a semester bases so look out for our advertisement on this service. Sellers can also perform these tasks in a self directed fashion by visiting www.hsfbookexchange.com.
BUYING:
During the book drop-off and book selling period come to the Used Bookstore to browse our books or visit us online (www.hsfbookexchange.com) to browse our online book list for the books that you need. All our books have an ID tag which lists the price of the book and a special tracking number for our system. The ID tags can be found on the spine of the book when you visit your respective campus Used Bookstore. Please do not remove the tags or take apart the book packages until you have purchased them. Please note, we only accept cash payments and there will be no refund or exchange, all sales are final. Feel free to ask our staff for help anytime by calling us or by visiting us at our locations. Used Bookstore Terms and Conditions
1. Consignment
Ø Visit the HSF Used Bookstore to drop-off your used textbooks and tell us what your Asking Price is. We will then minus 15% from your Asking Price and calculate what the Total is. The total will be the amount owed to you if your book is sold.
2. Contact Information
Ø When you are filling out the Used Bookstore contract make sure you provide us with your most current and complete contact information. If your book is sold we rely on this information to contact you. Failure to do so will result in late or no notification.
3. Returns
Ø If your book is not sold, we will return your book to you. Come by our office and present your receipt to one of our staff members and we will retrieve your book for you. However, you must pick up your book during the pick-up period. Also, make sure you pick-up your cheque or book before the last pick-up date noted on your contract. Failure to do so will mean that you have forfeited your money and your book to us. Please note that your receipt is required for pick-ups of book(s) and cheque(s).
4. Missing Books
Ø Please note that the resolution for missing books will take place after the pick up period. Therefore, if your book is missing or if we cannot find your book when you come to present your receipt to pick up your book, we will resolve it in one of two ways:
- We will return a copy of the book to you that we have in our inventory. It will be the same title and edition.
- Shall we not have a copy of your book we will reimburse you monetarily by cutting out a cheque to you for the Total Price - the price that you would have been entitled to if your book was sold. However, this will only be done if step one cannot be carried out and sellers cannot contest the quality or the text book(s) they are provided in lieu of their original text book(s) missing.
5. Buyers Information
Ø Buyers of used books must realize that the HSF Used Bookstore is a self-directed service. Students visiting the HSF Used Bookstore must realize they carry the responsibility of ensuring they know the text books required for the program of study they are enrolled in. The staff working at the HSF Used Bookstore will not have this information available for students. Verify the proper book for the proper course is the student’s responsibility.
Also, students purchasing books from the HSF Used Bookstore must ensure that they are getting the current edition of text books that faculty members would require. No refunds or exchanges of any type are permitted once a book has been sold. |
